Prester John On Mars

Having lost to the Swiss, Prester John transferred his attentions to Mars, establishing a small outpost there. He was soon attacked by the locals - the Red Martian city state of Manator.

Prester John's army was mostly as before, except I added a lurker and downgraded the man himself to a cleric.

Manator fielded four riders (including the general), six blades and two shooters.

Here's the initial setup. Both sides had mounted troops ready to turn their opponent's left flank.

Manator's mounted being fastest, it met the enemy first, being engaged by Prester John's tribal allies.

Both sides moved up troops in support of this fight, as the Manatorians were slowly pushed back.

A push by Prester John's troops ...

... saw the Manatorian riders scattered.

Lurkers in the brush finished them off.

On the other flank Prester John's knights were attacking some Manatorian warriors, but help was on the way for the outnumbered Red Martians.

A wider view of the fight. On their right and in the centre the Manatorians were pushing forward, and they had also stabilised their left flank, putting the enemy knights under pressure.

Prester John was finally engaged, as was his faithful elephant.

The knights were overlapped and slowly destroyed.

Prester John's army was breaking up under the relentless Manatorian grind.

The last of the knights fell.

Then the elephant as its pursuit took it away from any friendly support.

And finally Prester John himself was cut down.

The final position.

Manator won 13g-4. Once they got going, steady attacks from their line of blades proved key, as well as a well-timed counter-attack on their left flank to oppose the knights.
