After playing HOTT on Thursday, Catherine and I played some more Blood, Sweat and Cheers to finish off the evening.
The first bout saw me running a hoplomachus against a barbarian. The latter was covered by the dimachearus profile representing the big slashing sword, a shield and no armour. It works pretty well.
OK, fairly well; she was chased around the arena for a while ...
... then wounded and knocked to the sand, where the crowd decided that she wasn't worth sparing.
Mongo the murmillo made his Blood, Sweat and Cheers debut next, facing Flamma the thraex.
It all started well for Mongo ...
... then he ended up on the ground.
Even from that position he put up a surprsingly good fight.
Indeed the crowd were almost on his side. But he was eventually defeated. And spared. Blood, Sweat and Cheers is fairly lenient with its gladiators.
Finally a secutor faced a sagittarius.
There was a lot of running around. And I mean a lot. Both gladiators get to move a fair bit.
Eventually, after running through the deck several times, we called it a draw. Neither of us could get a decent advantage over the other.
Can you tell that I'm really loving this game?
