HOTT Campaign - Season Two

On to Season 2 of the HOTT campaign. Each army rolled a D6 and added their Resources to the total. From lowest to highest (and taking into account tie-break rolls) I got:

Undead, Dwarf, Camelot, Elves, Swiss, Orcs.

So the Undead got to choose their target first. They opted to attack the Orcs. Next up were the Dwarves, who went for the bold step of attacking Camelot. And that left the Elves attacking the Swiss.

Game 1 - Orcs Attacking Undead

This game would see lots of hordes in play. They looked impressive lined up at the start.

The Undead advanced slowly, but swung their cavalry wide around the Orcs' left flank. The Orcs sent some trolls and wolf-riders to oppose them.

But as you can see the Orcs had sent their mounted troops around the Undead flank, and were churning their way through the skeletal hordes there.

The Undead were in trouble on that flank  ...

... but their mounted troops had done well on the other, destroying everything the Orcs had sent against them. They were now threatening the Orc stronghold.

The Orcs brought back hordes to protect the stronghold.

And the Undead brought back hordes to reduce their casualties. Significantly.

The skeletal riders destroyed the hordes protecting the stronghold, and the spectre attacked.

The stronghold fell. The Undead had won.

The Undead won 10s-1. Their low casualty count was due to them bringing back loads of hordes.. They gained 2 Prestige and too a Resource from the Orcs.

Game 2 - Dwarves Attacking Camelot

Camelot opted for an open battlefield and decided to defend close to their stronghold. The Dwarves formed a long line of blades and advanced.

Camelot found themselves shuffling their line a little as teh Dwarves advanced in order to protect their blades from the Dwarven warband.

Initial contact.

Camelot rode down the Dwarves' left flank, and held firm as the Dwarves attacked in the centre

The Dwarves did get some riders around Camelot's flank and threaten their stronghold, but before it could attack the Dwarf army collapsed. They never really got the momentum of their attack going.

Camelot won 12-0, but only scored Prestige for the casualties as they had a higher Prestige than the Dwarves to start with.

Game 3 - Elves Attacking Swiss

The Swiss laid plenty of rough terrain, and the Elves ended up attacking through some rocky hills.

The Elven hero and their riders attacked along the flank, and the Swiss swung two blocks of warband out to meet them.

Things did not go well; the Swiss lost two elements of warband. They sent pikemen to reinforce.

One of their warbands was surrounded, but fought off and destroyed its opponents. This was the turning point.

The Swiss quickly surrounded the Elven hero general, who was now isolated. He fought back bravely, but soon fell.

The Swiss won 8g-4, and picked up 2 prestige. No Resources changed hands.

So at the end of the second season the scores are as follows:

Swiss - Prestige 2, Resources 2
Dwarves - Prestige 0, Resources 2
Elves - Prestige 2, Resources 4
Orcs - Prestige 2, Resources 3
Camelot - Prestige 4, Resources 4
Undead - Prestige 2, Resources 3

The Swiss and Undead gained some much-needed prestige, whilst the Undead gained some Resource. Camelot edged ahead in Prestige.

But there's still everything to play for in the next season!

  1. Another good season of battles. It’s a shame the Orcs didn’t win, but at least the Swiss were victorious (guess which are my favourites of the armies involved?).
    Good luck with round #3.
    Cheers,
    Geoff

    1. The Swiss are a win big or die horribly kind of army. Very much like their DBA counterpart :)
